On November 22nd, Edwards Collective members joined with others from the Mathey College Community to visit MoMA for the blockbuster exhibition “Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs.”
Towards the end of his long and influential career and with failing health, Matisse moved from large painted canvases to collages of fluidly hand-cut paper in an explosion of color. The resulting immersive panels are playful and uplifting, objects of light-hearted beauty that challenge our ideas of “ornament.” It was truly a show not to be missed!
